About Me

I am a Ph.D. student in Information Technology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia. I am supervised by Assoc. Prof. Sara Khalifa and Prof. Raja Jurdak.


Currently, my doctoral thesis focuses on "Rethinking Energy Harvesters as Sensors: A New Paradigm for Continuous Motion Tracking." I am exploring how to leverage wearable solar harvesters to achieve continuous and energy-efficient tracking capabilities.


I previously graduated with a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University, where I gained a strong foundation in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Digital Signal Processing, and Embedded Systems.

Rethinking Energy Harvesters as Sensors: A New Paradigm for Continuous Motion Tracking

A wearable solar harvester is normally treated purely as a power source. My thesis asks what happens when the harvested current is read as a signal instead: the light falling on a body-worn panel changes continuously with how the wearer moves. Recovering motion from that signal makes tracking possible at a fraction of the energy cost of conventional inertial sensing.

Models small and cheap enough to run on the microcontrollers inside those devices.
